Master in Digital Manufacturing is a two year program, offered by the EIT Digital Master School. Graduates of the EIT Digital school receive 2 master of science degrees along with a EIT-labelled certificate. Student also participate in summer school, business challenge and undertake a work placement.
What are EIT Digital Master’s programs?
EIT Digital Master School is a joint initiative by the Europe’s top universities and business schools. EIT Digital Master’s programs are coordinated by the EIT Digital Master School Office in Stockholm, Sweden. The Office staff works in cooperation with university administrators, admission and general student counselling is also handled at Stockholm.
There are 18 universities in the EIT Digital Master School from France, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Estonia, Spain, Germany and Netherlands.
Selected students enter at the university of their choice and also based upon their technical background. After the first year, students move on to the exit point university, located in a different European country. Majority of the curriculum (90 ECTS) is based on technical studies, including; Common base, Specialization and a Master’s thesis. A minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship is also offered consisting of 30 ECTS. Two Master of science degrees are awarded to the graduates, issued by the entry and exit university.
EIT Master in Digital Manufacturing
Master in Digital Manufacturing is an interdisciplinary program combining generation and predictive use of data coming from industrial assets and relevant computer science tools in developing decision making and AI for industry. Digital manufacturing program promotes use of digital technologies in EU industry, leading to increased productivity. The program amalgamates knowledge of industrial and manufacturing technologies with computer science, telecom technologies and trains students in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Students start their entry university at Technical University Madrid, Spain. During the first semester, several core courses in computer sciences and business are taught (mentioned below).

During the second year, students can pursue their specialization in Estonia, Finland or Hungary. At Tallinn University of Technology Smart Solutions for Digital Factories specialization module is offered. Students can choose courses in Cyber security, AI, Data management and/or Embedded systems at Tallinn University of Technology.
At University of Turku Data Analytics at the Edge specialization module is offered, focusing upon data analytics in terms of digital factory and manufacturing context. Several courses are offered at University of Turku, including; robotics, machine learning, data analysis, communication technologies etc.
At Eötvös Loránd University specialization in Communications and Optimization in Digital Manufacturing is offered. The coursework focuses upon computer science and mechanical engineering, from digital manufacturing to data mining and industrial communications.
The eligibility for the program in digital manufacturing is a bachelor degree in mathematics, computer science, mechanical engineering, statistics, electrical engineering. Graduates from industrial engineering or chemical engineering can also be considered.
For non native English speakers, a relevant English language proficiency certificate is required – TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or CAE. Information regarding waiver of English language proficiency test and university specific test scores is available here.
Candidate selection is based on their previous academic background, performance, motivation letter (featuring background or potential in innovation and entrepreneurship. Candidates with relevant work experience can compensate for a non-strictly matching bachelor degree. The work experience should be mentioned in the motivation letter or resume. Final selection will be made by selection committee to determine the relevant work experience and the bachelor degree for admission.
Tuition fee and Scholarships
EU/EEA and Swiss students pay 1,500 Euro/year (€750 per semester) and Non-EEA/Non-EU pay 12,000 Euro/year (€6000 per semester). Period one applicants are required to pay the fee before May 31, 2020. For period two applicants, tuition fee deadline is June 30, 2020. In case of scholarships, the tuition will be prorated for the received amount.
EIT Digital Master School scholarship program invests over €1.6 million per year per cohort to attract the best talent worldwide. Merit based scholarships are provided for 2 years and are offered to top applicants in each program/entry point. During the electronic application, candidates will be asked to confirm their choice for EIT Digital Master School scholarship.
There are two application periods, open to EU/EEA and Non-EU citizens:
Period one: (Nov. 15, 2019 to Feb. 3 2020). For period one, Admission and scholarship letters will be delivered on April 1, 2020, the deadline to accept the study offer is April 8, 2020.
Periods two: (Feb. 17, 2020 to Apr. 17, 2020). For period two the letters of acceptance and scholarships will be handed out between June 1 to 3, 2020. The deadline to accept the study offer for is June 10, 2020.
For student visa applicants it is recommended that they apply in period one. Applicants in the period one can apply to a maximum of two programs. For applicants applying in period two only one program selection is available. Interested candidates can apply via the official website.
Post-Master positions are available to EIT Digital School graduates which offers a 1 year contract. The graduates work in a EIT Digital co-location center in a multinational environment. These opportunities are available for motivated candidates, committed to digitization and eager to learn under high profile experts. Post-master positions are aimed at software developers, scientists, data analysts, technical architects, venture developers and other IT savvy young professionals.
