Czech Government Scholarships 2022

The Czech government scholarships are being offered for the year 2021/2022 under the framework of the country’s Foreign Development Assistance program. The program supports the education of foreign nationals hailing from developing countries at universities of higher education in the Czech Republic.

Scholarships for developing countries has been an important tradition in the Czech Republic as part of their development cooperation and more than 20,000 foreign nationals have graduated at Czech Universities under this scholarship scheme since the late 1950s.

Czech government scholarships are governed by a resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic as a joint project by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Who can apply for Czech Government Scholarships 2022?

Citizens of the seven developing countries are entitled to the Czech government scholarships for the year 2021/2022, namely: Cambodia, Moldova, Ukraine, Zambia, Georgia, Ethiopia, Bosnia and Herzegovina,

Czech government scholarships are dedicated only to the fostering of foreign citizens from the above mentioned developing countries. A Czech citizen, EU citizen, or any other foreign national with a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic can apply for this scholarship.

Which study programs can you apply for?

The scholarships are meant to support potential candidates for a one year preparatory course in the Czech language (which is combined with other field specific training). These scholarships are awarded to graduates with a bachelor’s degree. The candidates can enrolled in some selected areas of study for which the medium of instruction is Czech language. As per the regulations, the candidates are typically required to sit in entrance examinations at the concerned institution. After successful passing of the exam the student fulfills a precondition for the award of scholarship.

The scholarships also cover students who want to apply for a Follow-up Master study programmes or Doctoral study programmes and wish to study at a university in a program where the medium of instruction is English.

How to apply for Czech government scholarships 2022?

Potential applicants are required to fill the electronic application here at the latest by September 30 of the year prior to the given academic year (to apply for 2022 you need to apply before September 30, 2021). Candidates are advised to read the guidelines carefully before the application process, if you have any questions or issues regarding the filling of electronic application, send an email to registr@dzs.cz

After completion of the application form, the candidate needs to send it to the respective embassy in electronic form. If the application form is accepted then the embassy will call the candidate for an interview.

List of documents required to apply for a follow-up Master’s study program:

  • Application form for the Czech government scholarship.
  • CV with a focus on previous studies and employment.
  • Photocopy of the candidate’s passport.
  • Signed affirmation on the return to one’s country upon completion of studies.
  • Legalized copy of the candidate’s foreign diploma and transcript along with a legalized translation of the documents into Czech language.
  • Legalized copy of the candidate’s birth certificate (with legalized translation into Czech language).
  • Legalized medical certificate of the candidate (no more than 2 months old) along with legalized translation into Czech or English language.
  • Signed deceleration about the “acceptance of terms and conditions” governing the grant of Czech government scholarships.
  • Signed deceleration about the “acceptance of terms and conditions” governing the provision of health services.
  • Additional information regarding the content of foreign university education along with a proof that the study program was offered by a recognized university entitled to provide education in the respective country (legalized translation into Czech language)

List of documents required to apply for a doctoral study program:

  • Application form for the Czech government scholarship.
  • CV with a focus on previous studies and employment.
  • Photocopy of the candidate’s passport.
  • Overview of research publications or research activities.
  • PhD thesis idea or research proposal (3 – 5 pages).
  • Two recommendation letters by professors teaching at academic institutions.
  • Overview of expert topics on which the applicant wishes to pursue research in the PhD program
  • Signed affirmation on the return to one’s country upon completion of studies.
  • Legalized copy of the candidate’s master’s diploma and transcript along with a legalized translation of the documents into Czech language.
  • Legalized copy of the candidate’s birth certificate (with legalized translation into Czech language).
  • Legalized medical certificate of the candidate (no more than 2 months old) along with legalized translation into Czech or English language.
  • Signed deceleration about the “acceptance of terms and conditions” governing the grant of Czech government scholarships.
  • Signed deceleration about the “acceptance of terms and conditions” governing the provision of health services.
  • Additional information regarding the content of foreign university education along with a proof that the study program was offered by a recognized university entitled to provide education in the respective country (legalized translation into Czech language)

Note: The potential candidates need to familiarize themselves with the information on personal data protection at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic, in compliance with the respective EU GDPR Regulation, read in Czech and in English
